Production Touring Cars Announces RaceKeeper, Updated Calendar

MRF Tyres NSW Production Touring Cars competitors will benefit from a “RaceKeeper” COVID-19 stimulus package provided by the Street Sedan Racing Association of Australia, with up to $20,000 of funding set aside for club members ahead of the remaining four rounds of the 2020 season.

With many competitors feeling the pinch of the economic slow-down in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NSW Production Touring Cars committee has placed its core focus on ensuring cars remain on track, with a range of initiatives aimed at giving value back to competitors.

Club members who purchase MRF Tyres for any of the season’s remaining four events will be eligible for a cash-back stimulus rebate of $80 for every tyre purchased, a saving of up to $320 per set of four tyres.

MRF Tyres NSW Production Touring Cars club president Robert Coulthard welcomed the initiative.

“For several years now, we have been the strongest group within the State Motor Racing Championship,” Mr Coulthard said.

“We’re fortunate to be in the position to offer financial stimulus such as ‘RaceKeeper’ to our competitors, and with the support of our sponsors MRF Tyres, Allworth Homes and RaceBred engineering, NSW Production Touring Car racing will continue to be strong throughout 2020 and beyond.”

The NSW PTC committee has also announced a revised 2020 calendar. The planned October visit to Winton Motor Raceway has been dropped, with a replacement endurance event scheduled at Sydney Motorsport Park on 5-6 September. The series will now conclude at Wakefield Park at the end of September.

“Returning to Sydney Motorsport Park for our September meeting allows competitors the chance to compete at one of our premier endurance events, without the expense of travelling across the border,” Mr Coulthard said.

“While Winton would no doubt have been a great host, the majority of our competitors are of course based in Sydney.”

The MRF Tyres NSW Production Touring Cars will hit the track at Wakefield Park this weekend for Round 2 of the series, marking their first event since March.
