Record 53 Car Field for NSW PTC Supercars Event

A record 53 car field will line up on the grid for the final round of the NSW Production Touring Cars Championship, supporting the Repco Supercars Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park on 6-7 November.

The massive field of cars will participate in a pair of practice sessions and qualifying on the Saturday, followed by a trio of 20-minute sprint races on the Sunday.

The entry list encompasses a typically diverse array of production cars, ranging from the BMW M4s and HSV GTS is Class X, all the way down to four-cylinder Mazda 3s, Suzuki Swifts and Hyundai Excels in Class E.

NSW PTC President Chris Reeves said the huge entry list is a reflection of everyone’s desire to return to the track.

“I think everyone’s suffering motorsport withdrawal symptoms,” he said.

“Being at an event of the calibre of Supercars is a bonus and all our competitors are excited to be competing at such a high-profile race meeting, but to be honest I think everyone is desperate just to go racing again.”

The event will be sponsored by Fleetsmart Rentals, a business owned by the Kavich family (of which Ben and Michael are regular NSW PTC competitors). Ben Kavich said the opportunity to sponsor the category at such a high profile event will be of great benefit to the company.

“We’re passionate about production car racing here in NSW and we wanted to show our support for the category,” Kavich said.

“We see the NSW PTC round as an opportunity to increase brand awareness at a high-profile event, so there’s definitely a commercial benefit for us.

“To have so many entries is terrific for the category and we can’t wait to get amongst it.”
