Hodges Wins SMP Sprints as Buttrose Extends Lead

Simon Hodges has taken a trio of outright victories in the three NSW Production Touring Cars sprint races that made up Round 3 of the 2026 championship, held at Sydney Motorsport Park’s day/night meeting.

Hodges drove his Class X BMW M4 to a healthy 14-second win in Race 1 ahead of Matt Holt’s HSV Clubsport, with Michael Caine coming home third in Chris Delfsma’s Mustang. In Race 2, Caine mounted a more serious challenge to Hodges, finishing just two seconds adrift, but in Race 3, Hodges again dominated, breaking the lap record on his way to a 22-second victory from Holt.

Holt also prevailed in the Class A2 battle, taking two class victories to Caine’s one, while Jayson Williamson swept all three races in Class A1.

In Class B1, it was David Worrell’s Kia Stinger – which only debuted at the start of the season – that won all three races with former HQ Holden front-runner Brett Osborn emerging with a perfect scorecard in Class B2, highlighted by third outright in Race 3.

Max Bolton – driving his father Matt’s Renault – took out Class C while a trio of wins in Class D saw Richard Buttrose extending his series lead to 26 points aboard his Toyota GR86.

The next NSW Production Touring Cars round will be held at One Raceway, 25-26 July.
