Hodges Prevails on Dark Day for NSW Motorsport

Simon Hodges has taken outright victory in the two sprint races that were held during Round 3 of the NSW Production Touring Cars Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park on 27 July.

Hodges won the Driver A sprint race in his BMW M4 from Tyler Mecklem (Ford Mustang) and Tom Shaw (BMW M4) and the Driver B sprint race from Hadrian Morrall (Mustang) and Liam Evans (Holden VF Commodore SS-V Redline).

Updated points following the event are available HERE.

However, the event was marred by a horrific crash in Race 3 of NSW Supersports that claimed the life of Darren Barlow and saw the remainder of the event – including the scheduled NSW PTC one-hour enduro – cancelled.

Darren was a tremendous and selfless contributor to the NSW state racing scene – as well as being president of the NSW Supersports Association, he also served on the NSW Motor Race Panel (chairing the panel for a number of years) and Motorsport Australia State Council. He was well liked and respected throughout the NSW Motor Race Championship paddock and his untimely passing has sent shockwaves through the entire industry.

The entire NSW Production Touring Car community has been devasted by Darren’s death and passes on our deepest condolences to Darren’s family, friends and fellow competitors.
