Andrew McMaster Championship

McMaster Claims NSW PTC Hat-trick

Andrew McMaster has clinched his third-consecutive NSW Production Touring Cars title in a dramatic season finale at One Raceway.

McMaster and his co-driver Michael Hazelton’s BMW 125i was hamstrung with mechanical problems during the season-ending one hour endurance race, but the duo limped the car home in 16th position outright and sixth in Class D, scoring enough points for McMaster to take the overall championship victory by just two points from Richard Buttrose.

The outright win in the race itself went to the Class A1 BMW M135i of Jayson Williamson, but Williamson’s victory came at a heavy price; on the run to the chequered flag, he took to the grass to avoid the slowing BMW 1M of Alex Holtzl, which had gone into limp mode and was receiving a push from Paul Loiacono’s Mitsubishi Evo.

Just after the finish line, Williamson lost control of his BMW and crashed into the infield tyre wall, while Holtzl received a post-race penalty for his indiscretion, handing second place outright to brothers Ben/Michael Kavich (BMW M2) with Adam Gosling third in his Honda Civic Type R.

In terms of the class results for the season, Simon Hodges took honours in Class X, Williamson won the Class A1 title and Matt Holt took out Class A2 in his HSV Clubsport.

Gosling won Class B1, Liam Evans took out Class B2, and Classes C, D and E went to Matt Bolton, McMaster and Phil Alexander.
