Hi everyone To assist with the technical checks on all 3E cars, I am working to get Recognition Documents (Homologation Documents) for all the cars that run in the various series and events - Aust Production Cars, NSW Production Touring, Queensland Production Cars and the Bathurst 6 Hour. Initially when I got involved in this project, only 50% of the cars currently running have Recognition documents available. Since late November I have been working with Jamie Augustine at CAMS who has now prepared documents for many other new models. There are also others that are currently a work in progress. As these documents are the reference point for any technical checks it is very important they are available for your 3E racecar. You should always carry a copy of these papers with your cars documents and logbook. Would you please take the time to email Jamie at CAMS - jamie.augustine@cams.com.au to check on the documents for your car. Please advise him of the year, make, model and specific variant including engine size. This will ensure we are looking for the right document for your car. If none are available he will work with you to get these prepared. It is a straightforward exercise that will cause you no pain or inconvenience. I can be reached at tech@bathurst6hour.com.au if you require any additional information. PLEASE DO NOT POST ON THIS PAGE ASKING IF THERE ARE CURRENT DOCS FOR YOUR CAR. Chris Gough.

The CAMS 3E rules for 2019 have now been published. They are available on the CAMS website - http://docs.cams.com.au/Manual/Race/RA23-Group-3E-2019%20-%201.pdf PLEASE NOTE the proposed changes to fuel capacities will NOT happen for 2019. Section 9.1 (d) covers the fuel capacities and these capacities are the SAME as current (2018) rules.

Another response from Jamie Augustine βββββββββββββββββββββ Robert, Thanks for your reply, I appreciate you taking the time to email. The intention of this change was to try to even out some of the disparity between the distances cars were getting before needing a fuel stop, and it certainly wasnβt intended to mean cars couldnβt make 1 hour. I am actively working on this right now, but I need some help to understand the issues better. I really need people to let me know their car model, and their average liters a lap that they are getting for different model cars. They can get their fuel used numbers off their race sheets, or logging, or they can send me some of their race logging and depending on the system, I can work it out from the data. I will compare these numbers to similar cars to ensure that they seem reasonable for that type of car of course. This will help me improve the fuel calculations spreadsheet with perhaps more realistic numbers than the estimates I have used up until now. The more information that I have the better I can analyse the way to best reorganise the capacity breaks. Thanks again for your help, and I hope that I can receive enough numbers to help really see where the issue are, and how to get the best outcome for all 3E competitors. Regards, Jamie Augustine βββββββββββββββββββββ So competitors please if you have this data for your vehicle send it through to ssraa@optusnet.com.au and we will compile it and send it on your behalf.

Hi all, We have sent an email to CAMS regarding the fuel tank issue as a committee and this is the response we have received. We will inform you further with any updates. βHi Scott and Jamie, I am the president of NSW Production Touring and recently we were given the opportunity to comment on the 2019 CAMS Group 3E Series Production Car regulation change proposals. These proposals outlined changes to fuel capacity and it was advised βIt is not envisaged that this will have any greater effect than some cars being require to reduce their fuel capacity, a process which is simply achieved with the addition of βballsβ or βsealed empty vesselsβ to the fuel tank to reduce its capacity.β Since the announcement we have had received numerous emails and calls from our members with grave concerns on implication of these rules on their cars. In some cases their fuel capacities have been reduced by almost a third. Several of our competitors run Mitsubishi Evo Lancers including Evo 5, 7 and 9. All these cars are now restricted to 70 litres of fuel, a figure that will not allow for a one-hour race. Lower class cars have now been limited back to 50 from 70 and, again based on their fuel burn, it is not possible them to finish our 1-hour endurance races as their cars will run out of fuel. Many of our competitors also compete in Aust Production Cars and the Bathurst 6hr and had therefore spent the time and money designing dry brake fuel systems that will now need modifications to ensure their fuel tanks comply. In the case of FIA foam filled fuel cells, this will require cutting out the foam to replace it with another material to take up the void and reduce the capacity. In the case of those running standard fuel tanks with dry break fillers and a surge tank they will have these βvoid fillersβ bouncing around in the tank. Many of our turbo charged cars may now risk fuel starvation and the catastrophic failures that generally follow with boosted engine. At no point prior were we made aware of the formula that would be used to calculate these capacities and therefore did not have all the information to give a valid opinion. Had we have known the affect these changes would have on our members we would have been staunchly opposed to them. It is easy to see this decision will have a negative effect on our competitor base and we request this regulation change be set aside for 2019 whilst a more comprehensive formula is derived that represents real world scenarios. This will allow for fully informed discussion using proposed data and capacities with all the relevant information amongst stake holders conducting and competing in races for 3E Series Production cars. I thank you for reading this email and am hopeful for a positive outcome. If you have any questions please feel free to contact myself or any of the committee members ccβd in this email. Regards Robert Coulthard ββββββββββββββββββββ- Hi Robert, Thank you for your email. We are reviewing this immediately as the intent is to ensure that a 1 hour race can be achieved on the maximum fuel tank capacities. Jamie is working through calculations and we will advise any revision as soon as we can. With thanks Scottβ NSWPTC Committee

Hi All I have spoken to a CAMS representative that has been involved in this fuel calculation. It is not the intention to not make an hr. If competitors can email me fuel used per lap at 3 tracks(if possible) and the make of car this will give them better numbers to do calculations from. Dylan@cxcracing.com

Geoff Kite 1st Class B2 2018 2nd Club Championship 2018 2nd State Championship 2018 3rd Bilstein Cup 2018 What a huge year for Geoff. Geoff had to battle those pesky M3 BMWs for most of the year for class honours, and was able to come out on top. Geoff kept getting faster all year, and was punching well above where a B2 car should be at times. We may have to help him carry the trophies at the presentation night !
