Jim Pollicina and Michael Caine have driven their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X to victory in yesterday’s NSW Production Touring Car one-hour endurance race, held as part of the CAMS NSW Motor Racing Championships on the weekend.

Caine took pole position in Saturday afternoon’s Top 10 Shootout, narrowly outqualifying fellow Mitsubishi Evo racer Dylan Thomas.

Pollicina slotted in behind Thomas at the start, and shadowed him throughout the opening stint.

During the compulsory pit stop, Caine took over from Pollicina and the team managed to execute a faster wheel change than Thomas’ crew, enabling Caine to take the lead. From there, he was unchallenged and drove to a 16-second victory.

Inverell driver Greg Symes finished third after starting 11th on the grid in his Evo IX, just ahead of the Adam Proctor/Mark McHenry Subaru WRX, while Matt Holt (HSV Clubsport) was the best of the V8s in fifth outright.

Other class winners were Paul Loiacono (Class B1), Daniel Reynolds/Matt Stubbs (Class B2), Daniel Byron/Josh Muggleton (Class C), Jimmy Vernon (Class D) and Zac Raddatz (Class E).
