Drive & Wine Racing Sunday 19 February 2012

The inaugural Wine and Dine Racing is off to a great start.  At last count 49 club members, family, friends and category supporters are making the trek south to Shaw Vineyards at Murrumbateman (30 kms north of Canberra along the Barton Highway).

For those who are going in convoy, here are the travel instructions:

Prestons McDonalds, near the junction of the M7 & M5 Cnr Camden Valley Way & Ash Road (Meet at 8.00am and kick off round 8.15am)

For those of you heading straight down the freeway, Graeme will open the cellar door around 11.00, lunch will be around 12.00.

Food:

Due to our large number, menu is will be preset.  Lunch cost: $65.00 per head for three courses.  If you have any allergies or food intolerances please advise the restaurant directly. 02 6227 5144 Katie Dawson Flint Restaurant.  The restaurant will charge us for the number booked.  If you do not attend after confirming we will still be charged.

Shared platters of our signature dishes:

Rabbit & Nut Terrine (English pickilily and brioche)

Carpaccio of Hiramasa Kingfish (compressed watermelon, rosemary and honey vinaigrette),

Flint’s Calamari (chilli seasoning, blue cheese aioli and lemon),

Wood Fired Pizza (Pear and Gorgonzola, Hot Salami with tomato and mint salsa

Main Course

Spring Lamb Loin with garden vegetable fricassee, potato puree, carrot and ginger sauce OR,

Confit Ocean Trout with lobster and squid ink pearls and sweet corn puree

Dessert

Chocolate Terrine (crème anglaise and vanilla bean ice-cream)

Murrumbateman Mess (meringue, strawberries, lemon and mandarin curd)

Wines:

Graeme will be doing a wine tasting and be imparting some of his vast knowledge of the grape.  The cellar door will be open for us, so make sure you have room in the boot.

Auction:

We have designated this as the first Starlight event for the club for 2012.  We have three excellent items which we will be encouraging you to bid on and in doing so, support the sick kids and families of NSW.

Dejan Ninic (or Doctori as we like to call him) has a PHD in mechanical engineering, has been involved in motorsport all over the world.  He has worked with some of the best teams and drivers in the world, predominantly in the field of car set up and data analysis.  He has provided advice to World Rally Championship and leading GT and Sports Car teams.  In Australia, he is working with Carrera Cup, GT, Production Sports and Production Touring Teams.  His involvement in any group brings a wealth of knowledge and provides you with a competitive advantage.  Dejan has graciously offered to work with a team for a half day and give you the benefit of his experience.  Even if you don’t have data logging, it’s not an issue, as Dejan will fit a V Box for the day.

This prize is worth in excess of $1,000.00.

§   Smith Concepts – Helmet design and painting.

Kyle Smith is one of those rare talented people who can make the ordinary, extraordinary.  Kyle is a graphic designer, artist and creator of all things cool.  Kyle has donated a design service and pinstriping job to the winner’s helmet.  Anything from flames to flowers can adorn your helmet, the design is only limited by your combined imaginations.

This prize is valued at in excess of $500.00

§   Shaw Vineyards – Mystery prize.

Our generous host will be providing a significant grape based prize which I am assured will be considered priceless!
